Mural My Neighborhood 2006-07

Mural My Neighborhood is an arts-based mural training program for teens from the Cleveland Municipal School District. It is sponsored by the Bureau of Cultural Arts (City of Cleveland, Division of Recreation) through generous local funding. Since 2006, the dynamic team of art instructors Anna Arnold and Jerome White have supervised over 30 artistically talented Cleveland teen students in classes at Glenville Recreation Center. Within 6 months, they co-trained the students to be confident, skillful and effective mural making team members. This program creates jobs for students and helps revitalize the Glenville neighborhood with permanent public artworks. Students are chosen through a competitive process and many of them are top achievers. One young man won a summer art internship at a California university based on his work in the mural program. Mural My Neighborhood was conceived and is managed by Chris Luciani, director of the Bureau of Cultural Arts

Sketch #1 for mural on Glenville Recreation Center, 2006 by Anna Arnold, Jerome White and Mural My Neighborhood Students. Below is sketch #2 that incorporated all of the students but was not as vsually exciting. The final design incorporated elements from both paintings.
